Roster Additions, Cuts Start Week For WVU

WVU football has kicked off the road to Week 5 by adding and removing players from the roster.

The changes were first made on Sunday evening, as media members and fans took notice that cornerback Devontae Golden-Nelson no longer appeared on the WVU roster, while a new face had been added to the roster in freshman offensive lineman Ethan Chill.

Golden-Nelson transferred into the program this past winter after a stint with the Akron Zips. Golden-Nelson appeared in just one game this season, coming against Robert Morris, and recorded one tackle.

Chill joins the program after a wildly successful high school career at WVSSAC Class AAAA program Hurricane, where he was first-team All-Mountain State Athletic Conference (MSAC) and first-team All-State selection his senior year while playing a crucial role on an offensive line that helped Hurricane gain over 3,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in 2024 en route to finishing as the state runners-up in Class AAAA. he also captured the 2025 state championship in shot put as a member of the school's track and field program, and was a four-time all-state selection in the event.

Odds Open For WVU-Utah

The betting odds have opened for WVU's Week 5 home contest against the Utah Utes, and it is not promising for the Mountaineers.

After fans were upset about a 13.5-point spread favoring Kansas – which didn't favor Kansas enough, in the end – multiple oddsmakers set an opening line of 11.5 points against the Utes, with the visitor set as the favorite in the matchup. This comes after Utah fell to Texas tech in an initially close game that got out-of-hand late. An over-under for the total score has not been released yet.
