One West Virginia native and former WVU football star is looking to add state delegate to his list of accomplishments. Quincy Wilson, a Weirton native, starred at Weir High School, where he became the first-ever running back in the state to rush for over 3,000 yards in a single season.

He finished that season with 3,262 yards and 47 touchdowns, leading Weir to an undefeated season and Class AA State Championship before heading off to join the Mountaineers. During his time in Morgantown, he earned third-team All-American honors and first-team All-Big East honors as a senior, and finished his career with 2,608 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.

After his playing career came to an end, Wilson eventually got into coaching, being named the head coach at NAIA program Rio Grande (OH) before eventually taking the head coaching job at his high school alma mater. Now, he is looking to add a political career to his resume as well.

Mountaineers legend runs for West Virginia House of Delegates

Wilson officially announced his campaign for the House of Delegates in West Virginia, where he's running to represent District 1 in Hancock County. His campaign was later endorsed by the Hancock County Democratic Women.

"Today, alongside my family, I am officially filing to run for the House of Delegates in District 1, Hancock County. I am eager to hear your concerns and understand the needs of our communities from Weirton to Chester. This initiative is centered on listening, and I am prepared to engage in a constructive conversation. If you wish to discuss your thoughts, I am ready to listen!!!,” Wilson said in a Facebook post.
