The West Virginia Mountaineers wrapped up spring practices with the Gold-Blue Spring Festival on Saturday, and during the event, the program honored several players on the roster who made their impact felt this offseason.

Before the intrasquad scrimmage kicked off on Saturday, WVU honored one native West Virginian with the Tommy Nickolich Award, historically given to distinguished walk-ons, and three players with the Iron Mountaineer Award, representing outstanding performances in the offseason strength and conditioning program.

Parkersburg native and returning wide receiver Cyrus Traugh was named the 2026 recipient of the Tommy Nickolich Award.

Traugh is entering his redshirt junior season of eligibility and his second year with the Mountaineers. He was a Freshman All-American during his redshirt season at Youngstown State, and saw limited playing time with the Mountaineers last year. He graduated from Parkersburg South High School.

For the Iron Mountaineer Award, which honors the most outstanding performances in the offseason strength and conditioning program, three athletes were chosen as recipients – tight end Ryan Ward, offensive lineman Nick Krahe, and defensive back Geimere Latimer II.

Ward transferred into the program last season from UNC and recorded six receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown during the 2025 season. Krahe was recruited by West Virginia and has spent the past three seasons with the program. He was the starting right tackle last season for the Mountaineers. Latimer II transfers in to WVU this offseason from Wisconsin, but previously played for Rodriguez at Jacksonville State.
