The West Virginia Mountaineers continue to add to their pile of flipped recruits during the Early Signing Period, and the Mountaineers have now landed one of the top recruits inside the state of West Virginia after flipping him from a Big 12 rival.
Three-star tight end Xavier Anderson, who is the brother of current WVU football quarterback Max Anderson, signed with the Mountaineers on Wednesday after originally committing to the Cincinnati Bearcats over the summer. He in the top-ranked tight end in West Virginia and third-best prospect in the state according to 247Sports.

Anderson is finishing his senior season at Spring Mills High School playing for former WVU standout Marcus Law, where he accumulated 45 receptions for 659 yards and 11 touchdowns, good for an average of 14.6 yards per reception. He also recorded 41 tackles,12 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries on defense. For his efforts, he was named the 2025 Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference (EPAC) Defensive Player of the Year and an All-EPAC First Team selection on both offense and defense.
According to EerSports, Anderson took a visit to WVU this summer after he had offered his verbal commitment to the Bearcats, and stayed in contact with the staff throughout the season. Other than Cincinnati and West Virginia, Anderson also held a Power 4 offer from Virginia Tech. He joins a large 2026 signing class for WVU that is already up 42 signees and ranks 28th nationally according to 247Sports.
