WVU football is headed home from a road trip in Athens with a heartbreaking loss to the defending MAC Champion Ohio Bobcats, and the reaction on social media from fans has been volatile, to say the least.

After the Mountaineers parted ways with Neal Brown after a six-year tenure that never seemed to rise above mediocrity, many fans were hoping for a quick turnaround with new head coach Rich Rodriguez. That's sadly, however, not always how things play out. However, a road loss to a Group of 5 opponent certainlywon't sit well with fans who have long been fed up with the state of the program.

Some prominent alumni, such as College GameDya analyst and former WVU kicker Pat McAfee and fomer WVU basketball star John Flowers, took to social media just to express their dissappointment. Some fans took time to point out some of the issues that contributed to the loss and what e solutions might be, while others jumped to panic mode and are already calling for Rodriguez's head.

Other fans just appear to be numb to an embarrassing stretch for the Mountaineers in recent seasons, while some are encouraging their fellow fans to not be quite so pessimistic and to approach both Saturday's loss and the rest of the season with a realistic point of view and not freak out too much about what's to come. One fan even pointed to the fact that Iowa State lost to Ohio in 2023 and proceed to get their season turned around – although their solution for what Rich Rodriguez needs to do to complete the "Matt Campbell arc" after an Ohio loss might not be the best recommendation.

Take a look below at some of the different (and best) social media reactions to the game, and let us know how you're feeling after the tough loss to the Bobcats.
