The West Virginia Mountaineers are entering their sixth straight week of being betting underdogs.

WVU football last entered a game as a favorite during their Week 2 road trip to the Ohio Bobcats – which they ended up losing. Since then, the Mountaineers have opened each week as underdogs for their next matchup, and the impending Coal Rush game against TCU is no different. Odds opened on Sunday morning for the upcoming Big 12 showdown, and despite the Mountaineers having home-field advantage, TCU will enter the game as a 14.5-point favorite. The points total over/under has been set at 55.5 for the upcoming contest.

The odds for the TCU-WVU clash are definitely fair, though, based on what we've seen from both teams on the field this season. The Mountaineers are winless in conference play through four Big 12 games and are just 2-5 on the season, and will enter this week's game 2-5 overall. They enter the game after a demoralizing blowout loss to UCF. TCU, meanwhile, is 5-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play, and just earned a 42-36 win over the Baylor Bears to secure their spot in the top half of the conference as the season gets closer to the homestretch.

As previously mentioned, the Mountaineers will celebrate the state of West Virginia's coal mining industry and heritage against TCU with the second annual Coal Rush game, and the contest will also serve as Homecoming for WVU – facts that will hopefully give the Mountaineers a boost in a matchup where they are rightfully a massive underdog.
