The transfer portal is officially closed for new entrants, but plenty of moves are still occurring for those still in the portal and looking for new homes. Two former West Virginia Mountaineers have officially found new homes, while the program continued to fill it's defensive gaps with two new transfer additions.
WVU adds Coastal Carolina EDGE Ezekiel Durham-Campbell and Villanova LB Jason Hall
The weekend started off with a much-needed boost at EDGE for the Mountaineers with a commitment from Campbell. Campbell started his career at Division 2 Lenoir-Rhyne before making the jump to the FBS level in 2023 with Louisiana Tech. He transferred to Coastal Carolina last season and recorded 39 total tackles, deflected a pass and forced two fumbles in 2025, and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Sunday saw the Mountaineers add Hall at linebacker as well, adding to an already stacked linebacker room after multiple earlier portal additions at the position. Hall recorded 40 tackles (4.5 TFLs) and 3.5 last season for the Wildcats, and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Donovan Haslam, Curtis Jones Jr. find new a home
Two former Mountaineers who entered the transfer portal this offseason have offically landed with their new schools.
Haslam, who joined the Mountaineers as a transfer last season after making the jump from the FCS level, made five starts and played in all 12 games for West Virginia last season. Now, he'll make the leap to the SEC as he has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers for next season, and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Jones Jr., a sophomore in-state native who starred as a bandit for the Mountaineers (and this past season, also featured as a fill-in at running back and scored multiple touchdowns), made 23 appearances for the Mountaineers over two seasons before hitting the portal late. He recorded 22 tackles and one sack for the Mountaineers this past season, as well as 11 carries for 24 yards and three touchdowns.
On Sunday, we learned Jones has officially transferred to one of WVU's biggest rivals, as he will join James Franklin's roster at Virginia Tech this coming season. Previously, it had been rumored that he was made an offer by another school before entering the portal.
