West Virginia football has its eyes on a four-star EDGE in the Class of 2027, and he recently his athleticism on display at a prominent 7-on-7 event.
The Mountaineers offered Muskegon (Mich.) prospect Recarder Kitchen earlier this month, marking the 18th Power 4 offer for a player ranked among the Top 100 nationally in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports. Kitchen is also listed as the tenth-best EDGE in the nation and second-best player in Michigan in his class.
Kitchen recently took part in a massive 7-on-7 tournament at Michigan State featuring some of the premier prep football talent in the Midwest, and used the opportunity to demonstrate just how athletic he is for a player used to lining up on the defensive line.
He was put to use on both sides of the ball during the 7-on-7, snagging passes as a tight end and getting a chance to test his pass coverage abilities. According to 247Sports' analyst Allen Trieu, who was on-site for the event, Kitchen "looked good" during his reps at tight end and "covered pretty well in space" on the defensive side of the ball -- which are characteristics one might not expect from a prospect being primarily recruited as an EDGE.
Muskegon (Mich.) 2027 DL Recarder Kitchen looks good as a TE today and has covered pretty well in space.

Good looking athlete and has added good weight.https://t.co/PMh5I4p9GJ pic.twitter.com/CyAEP66Ry5
Trieu also mentioned that Kitchen was a "good looking athlete" who had added weight since he last saw him in person, which hints that he is continuing to build a frame that will be sufficient for a Power 4 caliber EDGE.
Kitchen has a made a big impact early in his career for a prominent prep program in his state -- he tallied 50 tackles (19 TFL), 7.5 sacks, two pass break-ups, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as a freshman on a varsity squad which captured the state championship.
