The West Virginia Mountaineers will take the diamond for the fourth time in the past six days on Wednesday, and they will need to rack up two more wins if they want to advance to the College World Series Finals. But they've already rotated through all three of their normal weekend starters, so the pitching staff is getting a bit thin.

With that being the case, many weren't sure what the Mountaineers would choose to do with the starting role on Wednesday. Some expected Chansen Cole back on the bump after only pitching two innings on Friday in Game 1, while others expect Ian Korn to earn the nod on the mound, after earning a 6-1 record this season for West Virginia and playing a critical role in Friday's win. Now, the starting lineups have been revealed for WVU.

Chansen Cole earns his second starting nod at College World Series

Chansen Cole, who started the first game in Omaha for WVU baseball in a win against the Troy Trojans, will be back on the mound on Wednesday for the Mountaineers as they battle the UNC Tar Heels in what will be the second straight elimination game for the team.

Cole only went 2.2 innings and threw 52 pitches, only recording two strikeouts and allowing seven hits and four runs before being pulled from the game. It's not the start fans were hoping for from the sophomore standout, but it does allow him to bring a relatively fresh arm into today's game.

We may also end up seeing Korn at some point, although it's possible he will be withheld for a potential game on Thursday if West Virginia pulls off the win tonight. It's clear that regardless, the Mountaineers will need to dig deep into their pitching staff to have the opportunity to play for a national title.
