WVU baseball had a historically successful season in 2025, capturing a program record for victories with 44 and advancing to the NCAA Super Regional for the second straight season. Now, the Mountaineers have found themselves ranked in multiple polls to close the season -- which allowed the program to hit a bit of a historic milestone.

The Mountaineers, who climbed as high as the Top 5 in one independent poll this season, have learned where they finished in the national rankings -- they were raked at a high of No. 12 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll, and at a low of No. 17 in the USA Today coaches' poll. The Mountaineers were also ranked No. 13 in Baseball America's poll while both Perfect Game and D1Baseball had the Mountaineers sitting at 14th.

The Mountaineers finished in a similar range in most rankings from the 2024 season, where Randy Mazey's squad advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in program history and were ranked at a high of No. 13 in three separate polls and a low of No. 17 in the coaches poll.

This marks just the ninth time the program has finished the season ranked nationally since such polls began being issued in the late 1950s, and the first time in 61 years that the Mountaineers finished ranked in the polls in back-to-back seasons, dating back a four year stretch from 1961-1964. Head coach Steve Sabins was also recently named the ABCA East Region Coach of the Year for leading the program to such heights in his first season at the helm.
