West Virginia football has added a massive amount of transfers this off-season as they look to rebuild their roster under incoming first-year coach Rich Rodriguez.

Now that the spring transfer portal window has come to a close and teams are wrapping up the last additions to their rosters before fall camp kicks off in a couple of months, many outlets are taking a final look at who exactly were the best players who moved from one program to another in the portal.

And while not every player a program adds is going to be one of the top names in the portal -- and its often more difficult for Big 12 programs like West Virginia to compete with big money SEC and Big 10 programs for the cream of the crop -- one addition for the Mountaineers recently appeared in the final edition of ESPN’s Top 100 transfer portal player rankings.

Jimmori Robinson, a veteran edge rusher who joins the Mountaineers from UTSA after a four-season stint in San Antonio, comes to Morgantown as the 70th-best transfer portal player in college football, according to ESPN.  He was also ranked 88th on the most recent update to 247Sports’ Top 100 list of portal players.

Robinson was the American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 despite the Roadrunners finishing the season at just 7-6 overall, and helped anchor the 11th-best run defense in the FBS for UTSA.

He tallied 17 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks on the season, with both numbers good for 10th-best in the FBS among individual players, and earned the second-best edge pressure rate among FBS starters this past season behind Penn State’s Abdul Carter. Carter would go on to be the third overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Robinson is arguably the biggest gem of the Mountaineers' massive roster rebuild this offseason under coach Rich Rodriguez. He represents a critically important portal win for this program and should quickly emerge as one of the Big 12's most effective pass rushers in 2025,” wrote ESPN’s Max Olson.

The Mountaineers did unfortunately lose one player on the offensive side of the ball to the transfer portal who also appeared on the list -- running back CJ Donaldson Jr., who heads to defending national champions Ohio State to finish his career, clocked in at 65th overall in the rankings. Donaldson rushed for over 2,000 yards and 31 touchdowns during his three seasons in Morgantown.
