After nine long months, it is finally once again game week for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
THis Saturday, September 5, Rich Rodriguez and WVU football will get their season underway as they welcome Coastal Carolina to Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown in the first game of the year for both teams. The Mountaineers enter after a 4-8 season last year, while Coastal Carolina is coming off a 6-7 record and welcomes a new head head coach.
It's only the second time these two teams have met on the gridiron, and both are looking to recover from less-than-desirable outcomes last season. So what do the betting odds have to say about West Virginia's chances?

Earlier this summer, the Mountaineers were nearly three touchdown favorites to defeat the Chanticleers, and with game week now here, their odds have only increased. According to Vegas odds makers, West Virginia enters as 21.5-point favorites over Coastal. The point total over/under is set at 56.5 points.
This is good news for West Virginia fans hoping for a hot start to open the season. While few fans are likely expecting a significant struggle for the Mountaineers in Week 1 against a Sun Belt opponent coming off a disappointing season, it's always nice to see that those setting the betting odds have faith in you to secure victory by over three touchdowns. Kickoff for the Week 1 showdown is set for Noon on Saturday.
