West Virginia senior guard Javon Small is having one hell of a season, and plenty of people are taking notice.

Small is being discussed as one of the top guards in not only the Big 12, but nationally as well. With 19.8 points and 5.2 assists per game, Small is the leading individual scorer per game in the Big 12 and is fourth overall in the league in assists per game. He is ranked 20th and 45th nationally amongst all players in those same respective categories.

Small continued his dominant performance this past week for the Mountaineers in a two-game stretch that saw WVU go 1-1 against Top 10 opponents and pick up their third Top 10 victory of the season, and he was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the third time this season due to his efforts – he also earned the honor on December 2nd and January 6th this season.

Small racked up 13 points and 8 assists in a tough road loss to then- No. 10 (now No. 7) Houston before racking up a massive stat line as he helped lead WVU to their third Top 10 victory of the season as they upset then-No. 2 (now No. 3) Iowa State at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday.

Small led all scorers in the Iowa State game with an outstanding 27-point performance and also added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the stunning win. Small added 12-of-his-27 points in the win in the final two minutes of play as WVU turned a tight gap into widening lead to run away with the victory, and Small was able to finish with his sixth 25+ point scoring effort this season.
