After WVU men’s basketball star Javon Small was named as conference player of the week earlier on Monday, the Mountaineers now have earned the weekly honor for both their men’s and women’s teams as senior J.J. Quinerly from the women’s squad was also named Big 12 Player of the Week as well.
Quinerly leads the Mountaineers with 18.4 points and 3.2 steals per game this season, and she is sixth and first in the Big 12 on the season in those respective categories. To earn the honors this past week, she averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game and the Mountaineers went 2-0 in league play against Colorado and Iowa State. Quinerly nabbed her sixth 20+ point scoring effort in the win over the Cyclones.
It is the first time in the 2024-2025 season Quinerly has earned the honor, and the third time in her career after receiving it twice during her junior season – it’s just the 13th such time a player has been named conference player of the week in program history, and Quinerly is only the ninth individual WVU player to earn the honor.
