West Virginia's 2027 RB commit showcases shocking speed with 60+ yard touchdown

There's no doubt in the minds of anyone who has ever watch a Rich Rodriguez offenseoperate at it's peak capacitythat one critical key to success for his system is speed. So it should be no surprise to see the wheels on one of Rodriguez's top 2027 commitments.

This past weekend during a high school game in Alabama, West Virginia Class of 2027 commit Carter Davis made it clear that he has high-end speed on the gridiron, and he knows how to use it. That was demonstrated on one play caught on film that saw Davis come out of the backfield with the ball in his hand and proceed to beat multiple defenders around the edge andput up a 60+ yard touchdown.

Davis, a rising talent from Gulf Shores (Ala.) islisted as a three-star prospectby 247Sports, and their composite rankings project him as the 83rd-best wide receiver in his class.

As a junior, he hauled in 45 receptions for 715 yards (15.9 yards per catch) while tallying nine receiving touchdowns. He also carried the ball 40 times for 118 yards and another four touchdowns. Now, he seems to be picking up where he left off to start his senior season.

Davis possesses some serious speed, which is likely part of what made him so attractive to Rodriguez and his staff. And he doesn't just show it on the football field, as he was the Alabama 6A indoor champion in the 60-meter as an 11th grader with a time of 6.76 seconds.
