There are not a ton surprises if you have been paying attention this offseason. No starter is officially named at quarterback, but Michael Hawkins Jr.'s name is listed before Scotty Fox Jr. with an "OR" in-between. This comes after it waspreviously reportedthe Mountaineers would name Hawkins as the starter.
Cam Cook and Amari Latimer will be the 1-2 punch in the backfield, with John Neider, DJ Epps, and Jaden Bray the starting wideouts – with Cyrus Traugh listed as the backup in the slot and at one outside receiver spot. Kevin Brown will start on the offensive line as a freshman, along with returning starter Nike Krahe and transfers Wes King, Amare Grayson, and Carsten Casady.
Geimere Latimer will grab the start at nickel safety, and Andrew Powdrell and Kamari Wilson will also patrol the secondary. Nick Taylor, Cam Torbor, Ben Cutter, Corey McIntyre, and Nate Gabriel all return from last season's team to earn a starting nod, though Cutter is the only one with significant starting experience.
There are a few surprise freshman on the list – Latimer, Brown, and Matt Sieg are all listed as was expected, but so are some other lesser known names. Those include Kade Bush at tight end, Chris Talley at running back, Miles Khatri at nickel safety, Yendor Mack at defensive tackle, Jyron Hughley at quarterback, Landon Drumm at wide receiver, and Lamarcus Dillard and Aidan Woods along the offensive line.
