It's not uncommon to find elite talent at the NCAA Division 2 level.

In fact, there were 46 former Division 2 players on NFL rosters during the 2024 season. And that's just players that made the league straight from the Division 2 level, not players who started at that level before moving to Division 1 before their collegiate careers ended.

So it's no surprise that West Virginia football likes to examine Division 2 rosters occasionally for potential talent to add to their roster. In the winter transfer portal window, the Mountaineers added defensive back Will Davis and running back LJ Turner from the Division 2 level -- Davis is still with the team, while Turner has re-entered the portal.

Now a pair of nearby Division 2 wide receivers with massive playmaking ability from programs outside of the Pittsburgh area have caught the attention of the Mountaineers.

WVU is looking to bring Slippery Rock wideout Logan Ramper and Clarion wideout Trevon Tate into the program. Ramper has officially announced his offer from the Mountaineers, while multiple media members have heard from sources that West Virginia is in-the-mix for Tate -- which he confirmed on Twitter/X while indicating he may currently be visiting campus.

Ramper has played in 28 games for Slippery Rock over his career, hauling in a career total 74 receptions for 1,165 yards and 14 touchdowns. Last season was his most explosive yet, as he racked up 748 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging over 17 yards per catch -- in the NCAA Division 2 semifinals against Ferris State, he managed a massive performance with 171 yards and three touchdowns on just eight receptions.

Meanwhile, Tate began his career at Mercyhurst and made little contribution for most of his collegiate career. He transferred last season to Clarion, where he had a breakout season during his fifth year of college ball and penultimate season of eligibility -- he brought in 65 receptions for 1,137 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2024, being named a Division 2 All-American while also averaging over 17 yards per catch,
