West Virginia football has made an offer to a defensive lineman in the transfer portal with all-conference accolades to his name -- and fans may have heard his name mentioned during WVU's Frisco Bowl appearance.

The Mountaineers extended an offer to William Whitlow Jr. of Memphis, who was WVU's last opponent of the season. New WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez was in attendance at the game where the Mountaineers played Memphis. Whitlow Jr. was a first-team All-AAC selection who recorded 24 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks this past season. The offer comes just one day after Whitlow Jr. entered the portal.

Whitlow Jr., who would bring 9 career sacks in 3 seasons, could provide a much-needed pass rush presence after the loss of the Mountaineers' sack leader in TJ Jackson Jr. to graduation and potentially the NFL. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
