WVU Track and Field having excellent season

West Virginia women's track and field has been having one hell of a run in 2025.

Following Ceili McCabe's 3,000-meter run national championship during Indoor Track season, she was awarded the Female Athlete of the Year Award at the Blue and Golden Globes, which is held by the Mountaineer athletic department to honor athletes who compete for the school's various athletic programs.

In addition, freshman distance runner Joy Naukot displayed her dominance last week at the Penn Relays, where she competed in the women's 5,000-meter run for the first time in her collegiate career.

Naukot took second-place overall in the race, posting a blistering time of 15:49.37 -- it's the fourth-best time in program history in the event.

And you don't have to look too far to find three of the other four athletes with the best times in program history in the event -- freshmen Naomi Kemboi earned the program record in the event at the Raleigh Relays in March with a mark of 15:39.19. Current redshirt junior Emily Bryce and graduate student Sarah Tait have also recorded top five marks in program history in the event this spring.

WVU Wrestling sends competitors to US Open Championships

Fresh off his third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, WVU wrestling All-American Peyton Hall competed last weekend at the US Open Championships alongside WVU volunteer assistant cach Muhamed McBryde.

Both athletes secured podium finishes at the event -- McBryde took fifth place in the 79-kilogram weigh class, while Hall took sixth place in the 74-kilogram weight class. The pair have earned the opportunity to advance to the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, from May 16th-May 17th.
