When you're dealing with an athletic department as large as West Virginia's, with numerous successful programs underneath it's umbrella, there's never a slow sports news day. Here are some of the latest news stories coming out of Morgantown regarding West Virginia sports.

Rich Rodriguez adds All-American linebacker through transfer portal

The transfer portal additions continue for West Virginia football following the conclusion of spring practice and the spring portal window opening -- and the Mountaineers landed a big one on Wednesday.

Defensive coordinator Zac Alley and Head Coach Rich Rodriguez found a massive defensive stud at the FCS level in Ben Bogle -- Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported the acquisition on Wednesday morning.

Bogle comes to Morgantown from Southern Illinois, where he has spent the last three seasons -- last year as a redshirt sophomore, he was named an FCS All-American by multiple publications, racking up 87 tackles (16.5 TFL), 5.5 sacks and two interceptions.

He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, and he made 29 appearances and 11 starts for the Salukis.

Baseball's winning streak ends In midweek rivalry game

All good things must come to an end, and such was the fate of a 14-game winning streak that West Virginia baseball carried into a Tuesday night road matchup with non-conference opponent and regional rival Penn State.

The Mountaineesr managed to match the Nittany Lions at seven hits apiece, but their bats weren't quite as hot and their scoring not quite as efficient as it has been during their recent winning streak and they fell 3-2 in University Park.

The Nittany Lions stormed out to an early lead off a first inning home run and West Virginia's sole error allowed their rival to drive home a pair of unearned runs in the fifth inning. The Mountaineers managed to get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning with a two-run homer from sophomore Spencer Barnett on Tuesday, driving himself and senior Brodie Kresser home. But it was not enough to mount a comeback.

West Virginia is now 34-5 on the season and still carry an 11-game winning streak in Big 12 play into a critical road series against conference foe UCF this weekend.
