In-State Four-Star Recruit Braydon Hawthorne Set For College Decision
West Virginia basketball will learn on Tuesday whether or not a massive four-star recruit from inside the state will commit to the Mountaineers, or take his talent elsewhere,
Braydon Hawthorne is set to make his official college decision on Tuesday evening at 7 P.M. EST -- Hawthorne is ranked the 33rd-best prospect nationally in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports and hails from Beckley, W.Va. He began his high school career at Woodrow Wilson High School before making the move across the state to a national powerhouse in Huntington Prep.
Hawthorne initially committed to WVU when Darian DeVries was the head coach but re-opened his recruitment following DeVries' departure -- rumors are circulating that the Mountaineers have made a big NIL push to land the rising star.
Big 12 Baseball Championship Bracket Set, Site Of Future Conference Tournament Revealed
Despite a disappointing end to the regular season, which saw the Mountaineers drop four consecutive games despite capturing the regular season Big 12 Championship, WVU has secured a No. 1 seed in Big 12 Baseball Tournament, which will take place this week at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The tournament moves to a 12-team, single-elimination format this season, and the first-round bye and opportunity to face a low-seed in their opening game will likely be beneficial to a WVU program that is in the midst of an eight-game losing streak at the event.
The Big 12 has also announced the site for future editions of the tournament -- the tournament is set to move to Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona starting in 2026. The stadium seats just over 10,000 fans and is home to spring training for the MLB's Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals -- USA Today recently ranked it the top spring training venue in baseball.
