West Virginia Basketball Adds SEC Guard
West Virginia basketball has taken a backseat in terms of transfer portal news -- largely due to the portal opening before football and the larger roster numbers to fill in football -- but just as fans were beginning to get antsy, first-year head coach Ross Hodge and his staff have delivered another transfer commitment.
Joe Tipton of On3 broke the news on Sunday morning the Mountaineers have picked up a commitment from a guard with experience in the SEC -- arguably the best conference in college basketball this past seaso -- who has multiple seasons of eligibility remaining.
WVU basketball has added South Carolina transfer Morris Ugusuk to the program -- Ugusuk played the past two seasons in Columbia and will make the jump to Morgantown with another two seasons left to play.
Last year, Ugusuk played in all 32 games and started six contests for a Gamecocks program that finished last in the SEC with an overall record of 12-20 and just two conference victories. Ugusuk's stats are not super impressive -- he averaged just 5.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest. However, he shot over 40% from deep range, converting 46-of-113 three-point attempts on the season.
He averaged over 20 minutes of action per game against some of the best teams in the nation, and dropped a 20-point effort against Vanderbilt and an 18-point performance against Indiana, showing capacity for explosive scoring.
NEWS: South Carolina transfer guard Morris Ugusuk has committed to West Virginia, his agent Teddy Archer of @taa_sports tells @On3sports.

West Virginia Football Continues To Load Up On Offensive Lineman
Football continued their offensive line additions to an already-crowded room as they picked up a commitment from Austin Peay transfer Donovan Haslam on Saturday.
The Mountaineers add a player with starting experience at the Division 1 level in Haslam -- he took over as starter at left tackle for Austin Peay last season, earning nine starts and playing over 600 snaps at the position. He also saw numerous snaps across the line as a reserve and depth piece as a true freshman in 2022, and can hopefully add to the offensive line unit for WVU as well.
Like several offensive line additions this spring, Haslam has multiple seasons left to play as he will be eligible for two more years of collegiate football.
