Despite gaining a win last week over another power conference opponent with a winning record in Georgetown (7-2), West Virginia men's basketball (6-2) once again failed to earn a national ranking in the latest edition of the AP Top 25 Men's Basketball Poll released on Monday.

The Mountaineers still appear in the 'receiving votes' category of the poll, but in terms of their overall position amongst teams both ranked and receiving votes, they actually dropped down five spots following the Georgetown win -- the Mountaineers are 41st this week whereas they were 36th last week.

The Mountaineers are 2-2 against power conference opponents in non-conference play, but neither of those victories came against teams currently ranked in the Top 25. WVU is 1-0 against teams currently ranked in the poll, however, owning a win against No. 8 Gonzaga, whose only other loss came to No. 5 Kentucky last week.

The Mountaineers are back in action Tuesday at the WVU Coliseum when they host North Carolina Central.
