New West Virginia men's basketball head coach Ross Hodge is well known for his defense -- but now, his first roster in Morgantown has a player that has absolutely no trouble scoring the rock.
The Mountaineers have landed Chattanooga transfer Honor Huff out of the transfer portal, according to a Saturday morning announcement from Huff's agency WEAVE on social media. Huff was reportedly down to five schools in his recruitment process, with other potential destinations including St. John's, Pitt, Iowa, and Vanderbilt.

Huff started his career at VMI before continuing at Chattanooga the past two seasons -- Huff is one of the nation's top three-point sharpshooters, having converted 131 shots from deep-range this past season on over 300 attempts. He finished this past season fourth in the nation in average three-point shots made per game (3.4) and shot 41.6 percent from behind-the-arc. Over his career, he has converted 292 three-pointers on 39.5 percent shooting from deep range.
Huff appeared in 38 games and started 36 for Chattanooga this season, and averaged 15.2 points and 2.3 assists per game. He is an experienced veteran in the sport, having appeared in 103 career games, starting 87 of those. He'll have one season of eligibility remaining.
Huff is the third transfer portal commitment for the Mountaineers this offseason under Hodge -- Hodge also added coveted post player Harlan Obioha from UNC Wilmington, and North Texas forward Brenen Lorient is following Hodge to Morgantown as well. WVU has also picked up a high school commitment from former North Texas Class of 2025 commit DeAndre Thomas.
