West Virginia football has suffered it's first loss of a starter to the transfer portal.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Wednesday that linebacker Josiah Trotter has told the outlet he will be entering the transfer portal following Neal Brown's firing from the program.

Trotter was one of the more consistent pieces of a WVU defense that struggled mightily in 2024 -- he played in all 12 games for the Mountaineers, recording 92 tackles, 4 tackles for losses, and 1 interception. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Trotter is the son of multi-time NFL Pro Bowler Jeremiah Trotter and the brother of current NFL star Jeremiah Trotter Jr. -- his father played collegiately at Stephen F. Austin from 1995-1997, while his brother starred collegiately at Clemson from 2021-2023.
