When a program with the power and prestige of the Alabama Crimson Tide shows enough interest in a player that they commit to signing with the program following their freshman high school season, you can feel pretty confident that player is a special talent.
Such was the situation with 4-star Class of 2027 prospect Jabarrius Garror, from Vigor High School (AL) who went ahead and affirmed his commitment to the Crimson Tide last summer before the true recruitment process really began. Now, he's not backed away from that commitment but has been in touch with other programs -- and Rich Rodriguez and his staff seem interested in bringing him to play for West Virginia.
Garror received an offer this week from West Virginia football, which marks his 23rd offer from a Power 4 program so far -- the Mountaineers are also competing with schools such as Auburn, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas, and LSU to steal the highly-touted player from the Crimson Tide.
Garror is listed as an EDGE, and is ranked 41st on the ESPN 's Junior 300 Class of 2027 recruiting rankings, and is the highest-ranked player on the list from the state of Alabama. Garror is also the top-rated prospect in Alabama on the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as well as the sixth-best EDGE and the 51st-best player nationally. He was named the Alabama Sports Writers Association 5A Lineman of the Year and a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American in 2024 after tallying 104 tackles (56 TFL) and 21.5 sacks.
Rodriguez is likely familiar with Garror from his time coaching in the state while with Jacksonville State and is hoping to use his newfound Power Four resources and touted defensive coordinator Zac Alley at West Virginia to steal the Alabama commit. If he could pull it off, it would be a major power move and make an immediate impact on the program's Class of 2027.
