The roster moves don't seem to be stopping any time soon for West Virginia football.
Wednesday has been a busy day for the Mountaineers, as they added a pair of veteran defensive weapons and another offensive lineman with significant experience to the roster. But news soon came out that more additions were in store for WVU football.
WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez and Defensive Coordinator Zac Alley landed a commitment on Wednesday from an under-the-radar defensive back making the leap from the JUCO level in Kaleb Gray.
Gray has spent the past two seasons with Dodge City Community College in Kansas, where he redshirted as a true freshman before becoming a significant piece of their defensive rotation in 2024. Gray tallied 32 tackles, five pass breakups, and three forced fumbles for Dodge City last season.

Gray had a number of Group of 5 offers and had recently added Big 12 offers from both Kansas and Kansas State, who are in the state where Gray currently plays.
Unlike most additions this offseason in the secondary, Gray comes to Morgantown with three seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining -- he and Appalachian State cornerback Nick Taylor, who was also added during the spring portal window, are the only non-high school prosects added this offseason who have more than one season of eligibility to play.
This means Gray will likely join the Mountaineers as a depth piece and a project for the future rather than an immediate solution to any issues in the secondary, unless he makes a big impact in fall camp that cannot be denied. He will join a secondary that looks a lot different than it did last season, as he is the 12th addition this offseason coming from the transfer portal or JUCO level.
