The West Virginia Mountaineers made the trip to Charlotte and Bank of America Stadiumto face the Virginia Cavalierson Saturday night. And they brought no shortage of support with them.
Despite the closest parts of West Virginia being over two hours away from Charlotte, and Morgantown itself being a ful 6 1/2 hours away, the Mountaineers traveled well to the game, bringout out a large contingent of fans decked mostly in gold.
Mountaineer Nation could be spotted all around Charlotte in the leadup to the clash with Virginia, turning the downtown area around Bank of American Stadium into a scene resembling a night on High Street in Morgantown.

West Virginia fans largely outnumber Virginia fans at Duke's Mayo Classic in Charlotte
Once the fans all made it into the stadium, there were unfortunately a lot of empty seats. However, that had very little to do with West Virginia's fan base,
Reports indicate that West Virginia sold their full allotment of tickets, but it was pretty clear that Virginia did not have such luck with their fans. The entirety of West Virginia's side of the lower bowl was filled, along with plenty of upper deck seats.
Plenty of West Virginia fans even drifted into Virginia's side of the stadium, as the 'Hoos' left plenty of open seats inside the stadium.

Mountainer Nation serenades Charlotte the only way they know how
At the end of the third quarter, it was time for sing-a-long time in the stadium, and those running the PA booth in the stadium knew exactly what song to choose for the Mountaineers.
It was "Sweet Caroline" time in Charlotte, and every West Virginia fan in attendance made sure to fill in the words during the chorus that the good natives of North Carolina might not know.
