West Virginia baseball 2025 schedule released, highlighted by 25-game home slate

West Virginia University baseball will begin a new era under first-year head coach Steve Sabins this coming spring, and now fans know when and where each game of the new era will play out as the Mountaineers have announced their 2025 schedule.

The 2025 slate will consist of 56 total contests, with WVU set to host 25 games at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown.

After making the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament Super Regional appearance in 2024, the program will have their work cut out for them to return to the postseason as they have 14 scheduled meetings with four different 2024 NCAA Tournament programs, including a pair of regional hosts.

The Mountaineers are coming off a historic season in which they finished 36-24 and reached the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history.

The team will kick off their slate at Jacksonville from Feb. 14-16, playing a four-game series set to end with a doubleheader on Saturday. The Mountaineers will stay on the road the next week, traveling to a weekend series at Lipscomb from Feb. 21-23, in Nashville, Tennessee.

WVU has their opportunity to open the home slate on Feb. 25 as they host a regional non-conference foe in Ohio before returning to the road for a four-game series with Queens (N.C.) Feb. 28-March 3.

After hitting the road for 11-of-12 games to open the season, WVU returns home for four straight contests, with a series against Kennesaw State from March 7-9 and a single game against Towson on March 11.

The Mountaineers begin Big 12 play with their first trek west of the Mississippi as they head to Oklahoma State from March 14-16. They’ll then return to Morgantown for a six-game homestand that begins with a visit from James Madison on March 18-19.

After West Virginia visited Tucson the past two seasons, the Arizona Wildcats will return the courtesy with a trip to Morgantown for the first time ever from March 21-23 for the Big 12 home-opening series at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers will close out the run of home games with an in-state rivalry clash with Marshall on March 25.

The Mountaineers will make its first-ever trip to Provo, Utah to take on BYU from March 27-29 before doubling back to Columbus to face Ohio State for one game on April 1. The next day will be the first battle in the annual Backyard Brawl series as Pitt comes to Kendrick Family Ballpark on April 2.

Four more home games follow as Utah makes its first-ever trip to Morgantown from April 4-6 before the Mountaineers welcome Penn State on April 8.

After not playing last spring, West Virginia and Houston will meet for the first time as WVU hits the road from April 11-13. The Mountaineers will remain on the road for their second game of the season against Marshall as they visit Huntington on April 15.

From April 17-19, the Mountaineers will return home for their first home series with Cincinnati for the first time since 2011, and the first time ever at Kendrick Family Ballpark.

West Virginia will be back on the road with a trip to State College on April 22 to take on Penn State before heading to Florida for the second time of the year for a conference series with UCF from April 25-27, marking the program’s first-ever visit to Orlando.

WVU will then head to the state capital for a neutral-site game against Marshall at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston on April 30 before heading back up I-79 to Morgantown for a three-game turn against Texas Tech from May 2-4.

The Backyard Brawl series will return to action on May 6 at Charles L. Cost Field in Pittsburgh before a road trip to Kansas State from May 10-12, with the Mountaineers ending their regular season slate in Morgantown from May 15-17 against Kansas.

The next stop for WVU will be the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, which returns to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas from May 21-24. There will be a new format this season with 12 teams qualifying in a single-elimination tournament with the top four seeds earning a bye.
