You don't necessarily need your offensive lineman to be able to haul in receptions: it's not exactly listed as part of the job duties at the position on game day. However, it's always reassuring when you find out you have linemen athletic enough to haul in a highlight reel catch – after all, it could indicate that player could have that extra bit of athleticism needed to win battles in the trenches.

WVU football head coach Rich Rodriguez noted in his media availability on Monday that during the team's practice on Monday, coaches "kept score" by assigning points to each side of the ball depending on which team won the play, with extra points awarded for turnovers and touchdowns. He said the score was within one point at the end, and he decided to determine a winner by having the offensive and defensive linemen go 1-on-1 in pass catching drills on the goal line.

In film the team posted on their account on X, formerly known as Twitter, offensive tackle Nick Krahe hauled in a one-handed catch over top a defensive lineman while running a fade route to the back on the endzone, demonstrating his athleticism in the process. The footage can be seen in the tweet embedded below.

"We did one-on-one with them, the o-lineman running goal line routes," Rodriguez said. "The d-line was guarding them press man. Surprisingly, we had two o-lineman who made like big-time, SportsCenter highlight type of catches to win the day. So the defense had to do push-ups afterwards."

While there was no word on who the other offensive lineman was who pulled off an impressive catch, it was clear the team was pretty stunned by Krahe's performance in the drill in particular. Even quarterback Nicco Marchiol had thoughts to share on the matter, joking that Krahe "might get some wide receiver reps" in the near future.
