Two former West Virginia baseball stars have reunion at professional level

The West Virginia Mountaineers had theirbest season in program historyon the baseball diamond this past season, hosting an NCAA Regional for the first time in seven years and an NCAA Super Regional for the first-time ever on the way to making their first-ever College World Series appearance, where they advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated.

That roster was loaded with an extremely talented senior class, and a number of those players are now off at the professional level seeking success and a major league opportunity. Two of those players recently clashed on the diamond to close the summer, allowing for a heartwarming West Virginia baseball reunion.

WVU baseball stars Ian Korn, Paul Schoenfeld meet up in minor league action

Outfielder Paul Schoenfeld saw himself drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks this summer, and is currently playing for their Single-A affiliate, the Visalia Rawhide. Meanwhile, pitcher Ian Korn was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, and is currently with their Single-A affiliate, the San Jose Giants.

Recently, the two teams met in action, allowing for the two players to reunite in what proved to be a mini-reunion for the former West Virginia stars. Korn unfortunately saw no action in the game, while Schoenfeld went 0-for-4 at the plate in a lackluster effort. But the two players did find some time to catch up and pose for a photo, whichwas shared by head coachSteve Sabins.

Sabins described the players as "2 amazing Mountaineers" who were "instrumental" in the team's first-ever College World Series run, which is a statement that is hard to debate with. Now, they're seeking success in their new homes, and it will be fun for WVU fans to follow what comes next in each of their careers.
