When the news broke that Arizona State's quarterback Sam Leavitt would be out of action for the remainder of the season, WVU football fans saw the program's path to a win in Tempe and potential bowl eligibility get a little bit easier. Now, West Virginia fans have one more injury update that boosts their chances against the Sun Devils.

Jordyn Tyson, a junior wide receiver for Arizona State, is arguably the best player on the team's roster – earlier this week, WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez called him one of the best players in college football. He's also been dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined since the Sun Devils' win over Texas Tech. On Wednesday, it was announced by Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham that Tyson would be out for this weekend's matchup between the Mountaineers and the Sun Devils.

Tyson has hauled in 628 yards and eight touchdowns in the seven games he's played this season, and he's racked up four 100-yard receiving efforts this season alone. With the Sun Devils now done their best skill weapon for the third straight game, and without their star quarterback for the second straight game, WVU has to like their odds against Arizona State just a little bit more. Arizona State's backup quarterback, Jeff Sims, did rush for well over 200 yards in the team's last outing, but has a career TD-INT ratio of 33-30, and is prone to making mistakes.

If the Mountaineers can hit the road against the Sun Devils and pull off their third straight victory, they will be in position to welcome a Texas Tech team currently ranked No. 6 in the College Football Playoff poll to Morgantown for a chance to earn postseason eligibility after a 2-6 start to the season.
