The West Virginia Mountaineers are 3-0 for the first time in a decade, andthey got there via a winover a ranked opponent and regional rival in the Virginia Cavaliers. And the Mountaineers wasted no time in celebrating their victory.
Virginia has a reputation as "snobs" or "elitists" among the West Virginia fan base, and in turn, the Cavaliers often look down upon West Virginians – with their since-disbanded pep bandmocking the Mountaineersas "hillbillies" during halftime performances in games against West Virginia in 1985 and 2002.
Rich Rodriguez talks post-game celebration with "red solo cup" after defeating Virginia
Yes, the win was a sweet one for Mountaineers fans everywhere given the history with Virginia. Maybe that's why Rich Rodriguez made sure to add insult to injury with some shots at the Cavaliers when talking about how the Mountaineers celebrated.
Some folks in the tunnel during the post-game said they heard a West Virginia staffer ask where the moonshine was at, and Rodriguezmade sure to clarifyin his post-game presser that the celebration would involve putting a "little juice" in them, and not drinking wine and putting their pinky fingers out. And on Monday's edition of The Rich Rodriguez Show, he gave some more details on that celebration.

"They probably drink wine with their pinky finger up, and we drink moonshine out of a red solo cup," Rodriguez said he told his team before the game on Saturday. "So that's where the red solo cup [came from]...On Sunday night, I walked into the team meeting room and they were playing Toby Keith's 'Red Solo Cup.'"
It was likely a celebration for the ages, and there is no doubt that West Virginia fans also had some juice in their red solo cups this past weekend as well. But now, with the start of a new week, the Mountaineers will turn their attention toward their Big 12 opener against the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Milan Puskar Stadium this Saturday night – where Rodriguez said he guarantees there will be "a lot of red solo cups" in the Blue Lot.
