West Virginia football added a lot of offensive talent in the transfer portal this offseason. Some of the additions, such as Cam Cooh, are very experienced. However, others are yet to get their first significant taste of varsity college football. One of those is LSU transfer Taron Francis.
Francisenters his second seasonat the collegiate level, and he redshirted as a true freshman. But he was a coveted four-star prospect coming out of high school, and Rich Rodriguez and his staff decided that the potential upside was worth the gamble once he hit the portal.

On the season's first edition of The Rich Rodriguez Show, Rodriguez was asked to delve into the wide receiver room a bit. And during that discussion, he praised Francis – who was the subject of a lot of hype entering the program, but hadn't been mentioned a ton during the fall.
"He's really in the last week made some great strides and showed some great things," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez also highlighted Francis as a player who has "great ball skills," but said that it took a bit of time for Francis to adjust to the tempo at which Rich Rodriguez's offense runs. But now that he is finally getting acclimated, Rodriguez seems to be impressed with what he sees. Francis will be a player to keep an eye on this week when the Mountaineers open the season against Coastal Carolina.
