New WVU women's soccer transfer addition Gianna Koss may not have a name you recognize, but her family has a legacy at WVU.

Koss is the granddaughter of Frank Cignetti, who led the Mountaineers on the gridiron from 1976-1979 before embarking on a long and successful career at Division 2 Indiana (PA), carrying deep ties to the gold-and-blue into her new home.

Koss joins the program after a freshman season at Kentucky that saw her use her redshirt season -- she'll join WVU with four years of eligibility remaining.

A Pittsburgh, Pa. native, she graduated from Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pa. She played her pre-collegiate ball for Beadling Soccer Club, where she was honored as an All-WPIAL selection in 2022 while serving as a team captain. In 2021, she played a role on a run by the club to the national playoffs.
