The Jen Greeny era in Morgantown has begun, and it's off to a winning start.
Greeny guided West Virginia volleyball to a 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18) victory over Navy on Friday. It was Greeny's first contest at the helm of the program after taking over last December following a wildly successful stint at her alma mater Washington State.
"I am very proud of our team for getting this first win," Greeny said. "We battled hard, and it was great to see a lot of people contribute."
Numerous Mountaineers had career high performances in the win. The team was paced by redshirt junior Cassidy Tanton, who recorded a career-best performance in five statistical categories -- she finished with 14 kills, 21.5 points, six service aces, 10 digs and three total blocks.
Also having personal best performances were three other WVU players: Quincey Coyle tallied 14 kills, Alexis Finnvold had 30 assists and six aces, and Sydney Reed recorded nine digs. The Mountaineers will be back in action against Wake Forest on Saturday at 6 pm ET.
