WVU golf announces 2024-25 schedule

Following what was arguably the best season in program history, the West Virginia golf team has announced their 2024-25 schedule.
"I think we have put together a challenging and exciting tournament schedule for our guys yet again for this upcoming season," coach Sean Covich said. "We return to a lot of our favorite events while also branching out to some new tournaments that we are excited to add to our schedule."
The Mountaineers will open the fall season at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Minnesota to compete in The Gopher Invitational for the fifth time in school history. The fall season will continue with a program first as WVU will help host the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational at Mystic Rock Golf Course in Farmington, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, one of the closest tournments to campus the tem will play.
.On Oct. 9-11, the program will hit the road to Texas to compete in the Big 12 Match Play Tournament at The Clubs at Houston Oaks, featuring all 16 conference members for the first time. The Mountaineers will look for another strong performance after earning wins in a program-best three matches at the event last season. WVU will finish their fall slate with an international trip as they head to the Caribbean to help host the White Sands Collegiate at The Ocean Club Golf Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas, on Oct. 25-27.
The Mountaineers begin play for the 2025 spring season at the Battle at Briar's Creek in John's Island, South Carolina, on Feb. 3-4., followed by another trip south for the program's seventh-consecutive appearance at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, on Feb. 15-16. WVU will the return to The Lake Las Vegas Collegiate at Reflection Bay Golf Club on Feb. 24-26., looking to replicate their 2022 appearance at the event where they secured team victory.
In March, the program will take an extended trip to Georgia for The Johnnie-O at Sea Island March 17-18, and their fourth-consecutive appearance at The Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, from March 21-23. The Mountaineers will then close their regular season by hosting the now-annual Mountaineer Invitational on April 14-15 at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. WVU will seek look to defend their 2024 crown at the event and look to earn their fifth-ever team championship and individul champion in the tournament.
The Big 12 Men's Golf Championship will take place on April 22-24 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By the end of that week, the team will hope to have earned their second straight shot at the NCAA Regionals, which will be hosted at various sites from May 12-14th. From their, WVU will hope to replicate their 2024 success in the postseason nd move on to the 2025 NCAA Championship at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California, from May 23-28.
"The highlights will continue to be those events we are playing part in helping host, namely our signature home tournament at the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club," Covich said. "Plus staying close to home with the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational and then helping host the White Sands Collegiate Invitational in the Bahamas will also be fun for our players."
