This summer will feature another edition of The Basketball Tournament (TBT) a single-elimination, open-application basketball tournament which offers a $1 million dollar cash prize for the winning team. In recent years, a WVU alumni team branded "Best Virginia" has competed in the tournament, with the state of West Virginia even hosting regional play in the tournament.

This year, Best Virginia will return to action. They are set to compete in the arena of WVU's largest rival Pittsburgh, as Pittsburgh alumni team The Zoo Crew is set to host a Pittsburgh Region bracket at Peterson Events Center. Action in the Pittsburgh bracket is set to take place from July 20th - July 24th with tickets available here.

6 of the 8 spots in the Pittsburgh region have been filled, with Best Virginia and The Zoo Crew being joined by Dubois Dream, The Brotherly Love Pro-Am Foundation, Stars of Storrs (UConn alumni), and Happy Valley Hoopers (Penn State alumni).

The Best Virginia club is 7-4 all-time in their TBT appearances. Their 2024 roster is mostly unannounced as of yet, with former WVU guard Chase Harler listed as the sole member of the player personnel. The team's official "X" account has already teased a potential exhibition matchup in Charleston, where the team has hosted a regional bracket before.
