West Virginia women’s soccer will have a familiar face return to the sidelines this fall after an absence from the program.

It was announced earlier this month that Liesa Seifert will return to the program as an assistant coach. Previously, Seifert spent 2020-2023 as a graduate assistant with the Mountaineers.

"We are so happy to have Liesa back in Morgantown to work with the team," head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said. "She was so impactful during her three years here and was instrumental in helping this team win a Big 12 Championship in 2022. I'm excited for her to help our program continue to win championships."

"I am extremely honored to join the Mountaineer family once again," Seifert said. "I would like to express my gratitude to Nikki, her staff and the administration for their continued trust and support. My time in Colorado with the Rapids and the Colorado Storm was invaluable, and I appreciate the opportunity to grow and develop as a coach. I am excited to bring my experiences back to Morgantown and contribute to the success of our team."

Seifert spent a one-year stint with the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club during her time away from Morgantown, serving as head coach for multiple programs within the organization. Prior to her first stint with WVU, she also served as an assistant coach for one season with her alma mater, Arkansas-Little Rock.

As a player, she most recently represented USL W League national runner-up the Colorado Storm. She has previously spent time on the U-17, U-19 and U-20 German Youth National Teams, and appeared in over 100 matches for FFC Turbine Potsdam in Germany. At Arkansas Little-Rock, she was named First Team All-Sun Belt and United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Third Team in 2018.
