West Virginia volleyball suffers first loss under Jen Greeny

Sadly, you’re never able to win every game you play. And when you’re rebuilding a program, you’re bound to hit some speed bumps.

So was the experience for WVU volleyball and first-year coach Jen Greeny on Saturday. After capturing her first win with the Mountaineers the night before, her team lost a hard-fought five set matchup with Wake Forest 3-2 (15-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-22, 15-7).

The Mountaineers saw libero Sydney Reed have yet another career night, tallying a personal record 17 digs. WVU fell in the first set of action but continued fighting toe-to-toe with Wake, trading sets back-and-forth until the two teams had split two sets apiece. Unfortunately for WVU, their opponents came out as the aggressor in the final set, taking the lead and never looking back en route to a win.

WVU will close their action this weekend against Hofstra on Sunday, with action set for 1 pm ET.
