West Virginia lands most athletes of any school on Winter Sports Academic All-Big 12 Team

West Virginia's athletic programs often excel in competition, but this past winter, the school's athletes excelled in the classroom as well. In fact, more WVU athletes did so than any other conference member.
Earlier this month, the Big 12 released their Academic All-Big 12 honorees for the conference's winter sports athletes. The Mountaineers landed 60 total athletes on the list, which outpaces all other programs in the league. The full list of athletes who earned the honor can be found here.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
