West Virginia football suffers first loss in spring transfer portal

West Virginia wide receiver E.J. Horton announced Tuesday via social media site 'X' that he had officially entered the transfer portal, marking the first spring portal window loss for the Mountaineers.



Horton played a minor role offensively for WVU in 2023, hauling in 10 receptions for 201 yards and a touchdown in 2023. He also added two carries for eight yards.

Before his time in Morgantown, Horton competed for in-state rival Marshall, where he spent caught 16 receptions for 245 yards and a pair of scores over two seasons and also tallying two carries for 15 yards in 2022.

After leaving Marshall, Horton originally committed to Colorado before backing out and coming to WVU. BYU, California and Mississippi State were also reportedly in the mix after extending scholarships.
