Despite a tough Week 1 loss at the hands of an elite Penn State team, West Virginia football is still receiving a few votes in the latest edition of the AP Top 25 Poll.

The new poll was released on Tuesday, and the Mountaineers found themselves receiving two votes in the poll, demonstrating that while some may have been disenchanted with WVU’s performance against Penn State, not everyone is selling their Mountaineer stock just yet. Those two votes have WVU tied for 42nd out of 46 teams receiving votes in the poll.

While the Mountaineers weren’t inside the Top 25 of the initial preseason poll released by the AP, they did receive 17 votes in that round of polling. At the time, they were 33rd amongst the 42 teams receiving votes.

Meanwhile, it appears if Penn State’s victory over WVU didn’t move the needle too much for voters, as they find themselves still at No. 8, seeing no movement in their ranking.
