Burks isn't gaining a ton of chatter around his name quite yet when it comes to the NFL Draft next spring, but is ranked the 154th overall prospect according to NFL Draft Buzz. Burks described this upcoming season as a "contract year" in his eyes, and he knows he will need to impress on the field to solidify his draft stock.

"This is it, if you don’t handle your business (this season), then it’s all over,” Burks said. “[Coach Neal Brown] was mainly telling me that contract year means you graduate and then you’re off to chase your real dreams, the real money, not NIL money.”

Over the past two seasons, Burks has turned heads by racking up 114 tackles, 9 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions in 23 games, and last season was named All-Big 12 honorable mention. Another breakout performance this fall would go a long way and readying him for the draft.
