Pair of WVU swimmers compete at US Olympic Trials

A West Virginia swimmer set a new school record while representing the gold-and-blue at the US Olympic Trials in Indianapolis last week.

Mountaineer senior Danny Berlitz, who already had set five school records (three individual and two as a member of a relay squad) competed in the 400-meter individual medley where shattered his own program record in the event, finishing with a mark of 4 minutes, 15.98 seconds in the qualifying round before placing eight overall in the finals.

A second West Virginia swimmer, senior Justin Heimes, also competed at the Olympic Trials. He finished 38th in the 100-meter breaststroke at the event.
