West Virginia junior golfer Max Green is coming off a career-best performance -- and he's looking to carry the momentum into another big weekend.
The Mountaineers wrapped up Round One at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. on Friday. Green managed to lead his team to open the weekend, going one-under-par on the opening day of the tournament. He recorded a final mark of 71 through 18 holes, pacing WVU behind a four-birdie performance.
Green will enter the final 54 holes of play in Statesboro sitting 17th out of the 84-man field, sitting five strokes behind the leaders. The team overall sits in 11th place on the 14-team leaderboard.
Green is carrying the momentum of a pair of career-low marks at the program's most recent outing at the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Green finished third overall at the rain-shortened tournament, posting a final score of 66 in each of the first two rounds.
