West Virginia enters the halftime in a major matchup with No. 8 Penn State, they trail 20-6. The Mountaineers missed some opportunities to score early and struggled to control the ball, but have begun to find a bit more rhythm offensively. But they still couldn't find the endzone, despite catching a lucky break on a possible missed call and were awarded a fourth-down conversion late in the half. With two field goals on the board, WVU, still trails by two touchdowns in a game where the Nittany Lions will get the ball to start the second half. It’s crunch time, but the game isn’t out of reach quite yet. Here are the keys for a WVU comeback against Penn State.

Utilize Preston Fox and Hudson Clement in the Passing Game

Both Fox and Clement have shown flashes of playmaking ability early -- which most of the fanbase already knew they could do.

WVU has been taking shots in the passing game and the offense should do its best to operate in favor of getting the ball in the hands of these West Virginia natives.

Establish More Consistency in the Run Game

Unfortunately, Jaheim White may be out for a bit. CJ Donaldson Jr., however, has looked as good as he has since his freshman season.

Quarterback Garrett Greene is always a threat with his legs, and Jaylen Anderson has shown flashes of talent before. If the offensive line can get some chemistry established and Donaldson keeps his pace up, it could be a dangerous weapon for WVU.

Get More Pressure on Drew Allar

The pass rush has been nonexistent for WVU, and Drew Allar is taking all the time he’s being given to pick apart the WVU secondary. He’s currently 8-13 for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Mountaineers have talented players in their front seven and they need to be aggressive in coming after Allar for the rest of the game.
