Joseph Yesufu cleared to return to practice for West Virginia men's basketball

One veteran West Virginia men's basketball player with previous Big 12 experience has officially returned to action following an injury that had him sidelined most of the offseason.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, WVU head coach Darian DeVries has confirmed that Joseph Yesufu, a former Kansas and Washington State roster member who joined the program this offseason, has been fully cleared to return to all basketball activities.

Yesufu averaged 6.2 points per game in six contests last season for Washington State before a hip injury sidelined him. Prior to his stop in Pullman, he spent a two-year stint with Kansas, earning a national championship ring with the Jayhawks in 2021-2022 and averaging 3 points per game and 11 minutes per game over 69 games in the blue-and-red.

Yesufu also has experience playing underneath DeVries, as he spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Drake and was the Missouri Valley Conference Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore and averaged 23.2 points per game during the final nine game stretch of that season. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at WVU.
