West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene has seen numerous wins inside Milan Puskar Stadium during his career as a Mountaineer. And he has strong feelings about his program’s postgame traditions.

One of the most storied traditions in program history is the team and fans joining forces following every home win to sing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, a song beloved by every West Virginian.

Following a 49-14 win over Albany -- the team’s first victory of the 2024 season -- the sight was the same as always in Morgantown, with the entire stadium belting out the classic song in unison. This time, it was accompanied by a new LED lighting system that bathed the stadium in alternating gold-and-blue lighting as Mountaineer Nation sang.

When asked by ESPN reporters following the game about the tradition, Greene shared his strong feelings on the tradition.

“No, it never gets old,” Greene said. “This is the best tradition in all of college sports, and it's a blessing every time we get to hear it.”
