Former WVU basketball player Taj Thweatt is a New Jersey native, but something about West Virginia seems to speak to him.

Thweatt spent two seasons in Morgantown from 2020-2022 playing under Bob Huggins, where he averaged 0.6 points per game during the stint. He would leave the program and transfer closer to his New Jersey home, spending two seasons in Philadelphia playing for the Temple Owls.

Now, after averaging just 0.7 points per game last season at Temple, Thweatt will try his chances in the Mountain State once more -- this time at the Division 2 level.

Thweatt announced on social media on Sunday that he has committed to Fairmont State, joining successful coach Tim Koenig in a program known for bringing in Division 1 transfers who excel after dropping a level, such as Fairmont native and former James Madison hooper Zyon Dobbs. His new landing spot is roughly 20-30 minutes south of his first collegiate home in Morgantown.
